The Youth Environment Assembly (YEA) is the largest global gathering of youth advocating for environmental action within the UN Environment Programme. Organized by CYMG, YEA serves as the official youth forum leading up to the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA), ensuring meaningful youth engagement in its processes and decision-making.
The 2024 Youth Environment Assembly brought together over 450 youth delegates, with $200,000 raised to support 250 in-person participants, including 50 international and 200 local delegates.
In line with the UNEA-7 theme of "Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet", the YEA has three core objectives:
Youth Advocacy and Engagement in UNEA-7
Ensure meaningful youth participation in UNEA, including policy discussions, negotiations, and decision-making, while identifying and advancing youth-led priorities such as the Global Youth Declaration .
Capacity Building
Equip youth with the knowledge and skills to engage in UNEA-7 and other processes through advocacy workshops, policy training, and position-building sessions.
Collaboration and Network-Building
Strengthen global collaboration, movement-building, and partnerships between youth, policymakers, and stakeholders.
